Distance Education : Request Digital Copies

This guide provides information about using the University of Idaho Library from outside of the library building.

What Can I Request?

Although copyright restrictions prevent libraries from digitizing entire books, we can usually help you get a single chapter of a book in a digital format.  If you need more than a single chapter, it's best to request that the physical book be mailed to you. Exceptions to the single chapter limit include government publications and UI theses and dissertations.

How Do I Request a Digital Chapter?

If you only need a single chapter from a book, there's no need to wait for the physical book to arrive.  Just let us know what chapter you need.  If you're not sure, you can often see the chapter names or numbers in the Details section of a catalog record:

Once you know what you want, just use the "Get a digital book chapter or journal article" tile on the screen:

Use the form that opens to let us know which chapter you want, and we'll try to get it to you within 24 hours:
