Library Resources for International Studies

Use Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a Library service that allows you to request materials, such as articles or books, that are not owned by the UI Library.

Interlibrary Loan is free.

To place an Interlibrary Loan request:

  1. Search for the item you would like to request using the Library catalog
  2. Click 'expand your search' below the search box
  3. If the item is listed in the expanded search results
    1. Click the item title
    2. Click 'Sign In'
    3. Enter your U of I - NetID credentials
    4. Click 'GET IT' to request either a physical copy of a book or a digital copy of an article of book chapter
    5. Fill out the request form and click 'SEND'
  4. If the item isn't listed in the expanded search results
    1. Click 'BLANK REQUEST FORM' in the top menu
    2. Enter your U of I - NetID credentials
    3. Select 'Book' or "Article'
    4. Fill out the request form with the item's information
    5. Click 'SEND REQUEST'

You will receive an email when your item is ready to pick-up or download

Why Use Articles?

Articles are generally more specific and current than books.

Begin your search broadly, then narrow your topic using Boolean operators, key terms, and concept mapping.

If the full-text of an article isn't available, submit an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request and we will get the PDF for you!
