Map Resources: General Maps

This page outlines some of the print and digital map collections available from the University of Idaho Library.

Finding Maps

In addition to topo maps, the UI Library has many maps of other types. Most maps can be found by using the library's catalog. An advanced search will allow you to limit your results to maps.

Not all maps at the UI Library have been cataloged, however, so a paper index, located in the map room on top of Drawer S-31, can help you find even more maps. If you have a specific geographic area in mind (Europe, Costa Rica, or Idaho for example), the paper index can point you to the drawers where those maps are located (Drawers S1-S8). The index can also help you find maps on specific topics (natural resources, transportation routes, or demographics, for example). Just ask a reference librarian if you have questions about using the index.
