Search for Books in the UI Library Catalog

This page contains information about finding and borrowing books through the University of Idaho Library.

Start your search for books and articles in the UI Library catalog by selecting the search scope: UI Only (items owned by UI); + Summit (books and materials owned by UI and member libraries); + Summit + Articles (books and materials owned by UI and member libraries plus full-text electronic articles).

Summit is a free service that provides access to print materials from 37 academic libraries throughout Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. The service is available to all affiliates of the University of Idaho.

Borrowing a Print Book from the UI Library

If you find a print book owned by the UI Library that you'd like to borrow, just make a request for it. We'll mail it to you. To make arrangements, call 208-885-6559 or email at libill@uidaho.edu. Please be aware that while we mail books to you free of charge, you need to pay your own postage to return them to us. 
 

STEP 1. Click Request Item.

 

STEP 2. Select "UI Library" as pick-up location.  Don't worry - we'll know to mail it to you!

Access an EBook from the UI LIbrary

To access ebooks in the library catalog:

  • Enter your search terms in the main search box.
  • On your results pages, limit to "Full Text Online" to display ebooks only.

  • Click on "View It," then on "Open source in a new window."

  • Ebooks are available through various providers with different user options. To view the options of your ebook provider, visit our Guide to Ebooks.
