Any Idaho resident 18 years of age or older can check out books with a guest permit, which they can obtain by presenting a photo ID at the Circulation Desk. Washington residents who live in Pullman, Palouse, Albion, Uniontown and up to Colfax and down to Clarkston can also obtain guest permits.

If a book’s record says "Check Request Options," this means it is not in our library. To find only the books in our library, which you can check out with a guest card, go to “Refine My Results” on the left side of the screen and under “Availability,” select "Available in the Library.”
If you want a book the University of Idaho Library doesn't have or if you are unable to come into the Library, you can request a copy through your local public library. To find your public library and learn more about placing Interlibrary Loan book requests, see the Public Library Tab on this guide.
The term Open Access refers to the concept of making research and information freely available online for anyone to use. For more on Open Access see the Open Access Tab of our Open Access, Scholarly Communication, and Copyright Guide. Below are a list of some places where you can find Open Access Books.
