For each entry, all lines after the first line should be indented one-half inch from the left margin (the examples below do not include the correct indentation).

Article in a Scholarly Journal

Book

Author, A. A. (Year). Title of book: Capital letter also for subtitle. Publisher.

Example:

Walsh, J. (2018). Adolescents and their social media narratives: A digital coming of age. Routledge.

Chapter in an Edited Book

Author, A. A. (Year). Title of chapter. In A. A. Editor & B. B. Editor (Eds.), Title of book (pages of chapter). Publisher.

Example:

Shome, R. (2011). Internationalizing critical race communication studies: Transnationality, space, and affect. In T. K. Nakayama & R. T. Halualani (Eds.), The handbook of critical intercultural communication (pp. 149.170). Wiley-Blackwell.

When directly quoting from a source, you need to include the author, year of publication, and the page number where you found the quotation.

For example:

Recent research on the accuracy of officers' judgments observed no " significant differences in response bias between law enforcement and naïve controls" (Sweet et al., 2017, p. 418).

You could also write it like this:

According to Sweet et al. (2017), research on the accuracy of officers' judgments observed no " significant differences in response bias between law enforcement and naïve controls" (p. 418).
