Student Employee Guide: General Training

A guide for student employees at the University of Idaho Library, with expectations, links to resources, and training resources.

Library Trainings

Before your first day of work, you will be required to complete remote Library training through Canvas. Your supervisor will work with you to get access to the required courses, and further information can be found on the Employee Development and Learning website at https://www.uidaho.edu/governance/edl/required-training

Emails will be automatically sent out to all employees when training is available to be completed.

To access Canvas, follow this link: https://canvas.uidaho.edu/

Additional Trainings

Additional unit-specific training can be found under the Unit-Level Training tab, or by talking to your supervisor.

The Idaho Commission for Libraries (ICfL) makes available to all library employees, including student workers, a wonderful trove of training materials as part of something called Niche Academy. There are excellent videos in Niche Academy that will help you grow and develop as a professional. Some of these may be assigned by your supervisor as part of your onboarding and training.
